WORLD MATHEMATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
On Wednesday, fifteen of our RST Mathletes embarked on a marathon of minds at the Junior Heat of the World Mathematics Championships. Their 16-hour day began before dawn with a long drive to Denla British School, setting the stage for an action-packed schedule of challenging mathematics rounds. Our students rose to the occasion, excelling under pressure as they duelled against competitors from other schools and worked together to solve complex team problems. Their resilience and intellectual grit were on full display throughout the demanding day.
We are thrilled to announce that their hard work paid off spectacularly and the team earned 10 Bronze Medals, 7 Silver Medals and 3 Golden Tickets.
The coveted Golden Tickets were awarded for outstanding individual performance across all rounds, entitling the winners to attend the World Mathematics Championships Finals in Australia. Huge congratulations to our three Golden Ticket winners: Kun (Year 11), Simon (Year 10) and Zen (Year 9).
Further commendations go to Si Hyun and Sun in Year 9 for their notable performances, both of whom earned multiple medals across different disciplines.
We are incredibly proud of all fifteen Mathletes and how they represented our School. Their effort, enthusiasm and positive attitude throughout such a long and challenging day were truly commendable. We are already looking forward to attending again next year.

HOW TO HARKNESS: SEMINAR PROGRAMME
Last Tuesday marked the launch of the Ask Better Questions (ABQ) seminar sessions - a distinctive initiative designed and led by Dr Field and Mr Threlfall. Now entering its third year, this programme has become a defining feature of Sixth Form life at RST, inspiring students to think deeply, question bravely and learn collaboratively.
The ABQ programme prepares students for life beyond RST by nurturing supra-curricular knowledge, critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. Over the next few weeks, students will meet in small groups for lively discussions using the Harkness Method. This is a style of learning where students lead the conversation, listen carefully to each other and solve problems together. Teachers only guide the discussion, so students take charge of their own learning. During the Harkness sessions, conversation prompts will be drawn from Start With Why by Simon Sinek - the core text issued to every Year 12 student at the programme’s launch.
The Harkness method not only strengthens teamwork and problem-solving skills but also supports preparation for the IELTS Speaking test allowing students to practise fluency, coherence and critical reflection - skills that will serve them well both at university and in professional life.

ECO COMMITEE TRIP TO PORSCHE
25 members of our Senior Eco and Sustainability Committee had the exciting opportunity to visit the Porsche Showroom in Pattaya to learn about sustainability in industry.
The group was welcomed by Managing Director Arnt Bayer, who gave an informative and thought-provoking talk about the showroom’s environmental initiatives. He explained how the facility achieved Gold certification under the LEED Green Building standard, highlighting key sustainability features such as water-efficient systems, environmentally responsible glass and tarmac designed to reduce heat island effects. Students were then treated to a tour of the impressive showroom, where they explored the latest electric, hybrid and petrol models. They engaged enthusiastically with the team, asking questions and learning about the advantages and challenges of each technology.
The visit proved both highly educational and thoroughly enjoyable. The Committee extends its warmest thanks to everyone at Pattaya Porsche for generously sharing their time and expertise - and for providing each student with a Porsche goodie bag!

RECEPTION BIKES TO SCHOOL
It has been an exciting week in Reception as the children had the opportunity to bring in their bikes and scooters from home and explore the track on our KS1 playground. It was brilliant to watch the track come alive with Reception energy, showing off some serious skills.
We were incredibly proud of our young riders - their awareness of safety was outstanding, with all of the children proudly wearing their helmets, showing us they are taking responsibility for their own well-being.
More than just riding, this week was a wonderful showcase of perseverance and progress. We saw determined children move from the wobble of a balance bike to the stability of stabilisers and then, for some adventurous learners, taking their very first tentative glides on a traditional bicycle. Watching them pick themselves up, dust themselves off and keep trying, truly highlighted the growth mindset we champion in Early Years.
A huge thank you to all the parents for supporting this initiative and ensuring every child had their safety gear. It was a great lesson in physical development, coordination and resilience - along with a lot of fun.

CAN-STRUCTION CHALLENGE
The MAD Juniors and Pre-Prep successfully ran their first-ever CAN-Struction Challenge. The project began with a big effort from everyone in the School as we asked the entire Pre-Prep to donate canned food to the Hand to Hand Foundation. The generosity was fantastic, providing lots of cans for this great cause. Next, we challenged our classes to use these cans to build something amazing - the children transformed into architects, using teamwork and imagination to create lovely structures, from castles to cars. It was wonderful to see this challenge combining creative problem-solving with meaningful charity work.
Thank you to everyone who donated canned goods, we will make lots of people in our community very happy.

INTERNATIONAL DAY
As always, our Pre-Prep International Day celebrations were a huge success as we kicked off with some fantastic performances in The Oval, followed by our costume parade and mouth-watering Food Market. Children were engaged in internationally-themed activities throughout the day and enjoyed taking photos with their friends and teachers of all the fun and learning they had. We hope you enjoy looking through these photos that were taken by all the different classes and their teachers.

LIFE BEYOND BOARDING
"Mei-Mei was one of the most quietly determined students I’ve ever known - always studying, always curious and always ready to lend a helping hand to others. Her kindness and gentle nature made her a calming presence in Rupert Brooke, even as she pushed herself to achieve at the highest level. If I found her reading after lights out, it would always be something academic! Boarding gave her the space and support to nurture that love of learning and it’s wonderful to see it carry her all the way to Imperial College London.” (Jennie Windsor, Houseparent)

HALF-TERM TRAINING CAMP
The RST Swim Team proudly hosted another successful 7-day training camp during the October half-term break which saw over 40 swimmers from the Nemo, Prep and Senior squads.
This training was a vital step as we prepare for our upcoming meets - Falcons Xtreme, Future Lightning Swim Series and Feeding Frenzy. Our swimmers and coaches demonstrated outstanding commitment and energy throughout the week and as a special reward, everyone had a chance to enjoy our brand-new RST Lightning inflatable!
A huge well done and thank you to all swimmers and coaches who took part, your dedication matters.

U15 3v3 BASKETBALL
Four teams from our U15 boys and girls competed in a thrilling 3v3 tournament at Regents, demonstrating impressive teamwork and composure under pressure. Out of ten teams, the girls claimed 1st and 3rd place, while the boys secured 2nd and 3rd place finishes. The event featured dramatic moments, including Hael sinking a free throw at the buzzer to win 3rd place and Isla hitting a game-winner in overtime to claim the championship. A huge congratulations to all players for their outstanding effort, spirit and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
