TRAFFIC UPDATE ON THE 3240
We are pleased to report that the traffic situation in the morning has continued to improve with the dedicated presence of police officers on the main road, which has been invaluable in managing traffic flow and ensuring the safety of our community.
We urge all parents to strictly adhere to the police signals and traffic rules. Your cooperation is paramount in preventing accidents and maintaining a smooth commute. By working together, we can create a safer and more efficient environment for everyone.
BOOK DRIVE
We are always looking for ways to make a difference and support those in need and we know that we can always count on our School community to help. Our 'Book Drive' has commenced yet again and we are collecting gently used or brand new books and stationery, with all donations going to local school libraries in Northern Thailand that have been affected by the recent floods. Please see below for more information.
Reminders
TRIAL CHANGES TO THE ADMIN. CAR PARK
As you may have seen, we are trialling some new exits to help ease the congestion in the main School car park, which serves Senior and Prep families. We have also placed some temporary signs and barriers to help guide vehicles, noting that permanent changes will be made once we establish what works best.
It is important to be respectful of all who are working hard to keep our School zones safe. Waiting in restricted areas will only make things worse, so please be considerate to others and follow the instructions of our traffic controllers.
We appreciate your cooperation as we test out these new procedures.

Highlight of the Week
HEALTHY GAMING
With half-term around the corner, we understand that device usage and screen time during the School break can be a concern for many parents. This is why we have partnered with Healthy Gaming who, for a cost of 8,000 THB (including a money-back guarantee) offer a science-backed restorative course to help anyone who may be suffering from device addiction. This can include any form of device use from gaming, to social media and beyond.
If you feel that any member of your family may benefit from this service, please email Mr Burkhill rburkhill@rugbyschool.ac.th who can talk over your options in more details. Please note that the School does not take any commission for this service.

THE POWER OF SIMPLE MACHINES
Our students have been busy delving into the fascinating world of engineering with our STEAM: DIY Simple Machines activity. They have been getting hands-on, building their own levers, pulleys and inclined planes using everyday materials. Through exciting experiments and creative construction challenges, they are discovering how these simple machines can make work easier and how they form the building blocks of complex machinery. It has been inspiring to see their problem-solving skills and engineering minds at work.

LANGUAGE WEDNESDAYS
We love to greet all of our children when they arrive to School in the morning and are excited to introduce 'Language Wednesdays' which will commence after the half-term. At the gate and in classrooms we will be saying our usual 'Good Morning' in different languages to reflect the variety of languages our children speak and each Wednesday, we will greet the children in a new language.
This is part of our programme to recognise the importance of the children's home languages. Classes will display posters on how to say Good Morning in the different languages represented. Our native reading sessions will also continue on a termly basis.
The weekly plan for after half-term is as follows:
Wednesday, 30th October - Thai
Wednesday, 6th November - Korean
Wednesday, 13th November - Japanese
Wednesday, 20th November - Mandarin
Wednesday, 27th November - Indian (Hindi)
Wednesday, 4th December- Russian
Wednesday, 11th December - Italian
We are also asking for any second hand books in your native languages, so please do drop them by the office as we would like to add them to our collections for the children to use.
RECEPTION CLASSES
Our Reception children have become more and more independent since the start of term, so we encourage them to make their own way to the classrooms after half-term. If your child still needs some support, please just let us know at the gate and we will be happy to help. We are so proud of their growing independence.
ENGLISH LESSONS FOR PARENTS
Thank you to those who expressed an interest in English lessons for parents. Mr Jay will be offering these sessions to beginners or those new to English. Sessions will be held on Thursday mornings at 8:30am (or 8:45am if Wake and Shake is indoors). If the lessons and timings prove to work well, we will look into whether we can offer any other lessons next term.
Those who expressed interest will soon be contacted by email with further information.
Reminders
SCHOOL BAGS
Children may add one small keyring to their School bags to help identify their belongings. We kindly ask that parents do not attach anything else. We have seen mini bags of stationery and larger items being attached to bags and these are not practical. Please note that teachers will remove items if there are more than one attached.

MAD JUNIORS
It has been a busy week for our MAD Juniors as they took on two big projects serving our community and making a difference.
The first project saw them reaching out to the people around us by handing out sandwiches to the security guards, cleaning staff, cooking staff and nurses as a way of showing appreciation for all they do.
For their second project, our MAD Juniors decided to do a cleanup around the School by picking up litter and ensuring it was disposed of correctly. We are very proud of how they are helping our environment and making a difference to the workers who do so much for us.
YEAR 2 LEARNING FUN
Even though recent storms got in the way of a visit to the OEC, our Year 2 children have still been having fun learning all about food chains this week. Children immersed themselves in books and videos on food chains during the 'I EXPLORE' stage of the inquiry cycle. They then became Creative Chameleons as part of the 'I CREATE' stage by using arts and crafts to make their own food chains. Finally, they presented their work to classmates and teachers as part of 'I SHARE'. Well done to all our Year 2 Exploring Eagles on wondering, exploring, creating and sharing such amazing work.
