COMMUNITY REPS
As part of our language strategy, we are seeking parent volunteers across all year groups, to serve as Community Representatives. These reps will partner with us to support our EAL families, especially with transitions, and work together to celebrate and nurture bilingualism, biliteracy and biculturalism for all our students. If you are passionate about supporting our language learners, we encourage you to get involved. More information can be found in the poster below.

TECH TEAM GRADUATION
Our student Tech Team has been an invaluable asset to our School for the past four years. During this time, they have provided:
- Technical support for students and teachers
- Resource creation and testing
- Policy drafting
- Support and operation of assemblies, events and performances
- Creation of our first podcast studio, "Rugby Studios"
- Collaboration with other student teams, representing our School on the world stage, most recently in Singapore
Originally an after-School activity for years 6-13, the team has expanded to include Year 2 and beyond. We are delighted to announce that due to this growth, the Tech Team has now transitioned from an activity programme to an independent School entity.
With our final activity meeting concluding this week, the team will continue to recruit and support the School in our spare time and across digital platforms. From the use of AI within Rugby School Thailand, to the opening of Rugby Studios and the rise of e-sport events within FOBISIA and beyond, we are so excited to see where our 'graduation' will take us next.

Highlight of the Week
RSTPA COOKING CLASS
This week, our parents celebrated Setsubun - a Japanese holiday which takes place on February 3rd, the day before the traditional Japanese calendar's spring season begins. This is traditionally a time for families to participate in unique traditions meant to ward off evil spirits and welcome good fortune for the new year. Of course, the 'evil spirit' could not stay away from our parents' cooking and even stayed to teach them the correct ways to prepare their menu which consisted of sushi, okonomiyaki and daigaku imo.
If you would like to take part in these fun and interactive sessions, our next cooking class will held on Monday, 3rd March, exploring flavours from France.
There will be a small fee of 300 THB per session to cover the costs of ingredients and you will need to bring some empty containers to take your food away. We have a maximum of 24 places, so if you are interested please reserve your place by contacting: irbis2002@bk.ru / Line: Helen Cool / 0907694661.

OPPIDAN EDUCATION
This week, we were visited once again by Oppidan Education who gave our E Block students some valuable advice on study skills. The event included a series of seminars focused on effective revision techniques, time management and strategies for successful studying. Students learnt that the brain is something you can mould and navigate, creating skills and positive habits in their learning. After a series of games looking at how the working memory functions, they explored different ways to learn, organise and remember information.
Oppidan Education is an international mentoring organisation that supports students in schools and 1:1 at home. They can also offer families the opportunity to continue this journey beyond the Skills Day. If you wish for your child to receive personalised 1:1 mentoring, you will be entitled to a 10% discount on their ongoing mentoring services which will allow your child the chance to continue refining their study skills and receive dedicated support in preparing for their IGCSEs.

PORTAL VR PATTAYA
As part of our Learner Profile week, Year 6 had the opportunity to dive into a virtual reality (VR) experience at Portal VR, Pattaya. The Year 6 students currently have the opportunity to code a 3D gaming experience in VR as part of our Computing curriculum. This outing was an excellent way to demonstrate what is possible in VR, along with the unique challenges and opportunities it brings to a development environment.
As we arguably enter the most revolutionary digital era since the advent of the Internet, the skills present in our Learner Profile are more important than ever before.

YEAR 4 AND YEAR 8 THAI TRIPS
On Monday, our Year 4 students had a wonderful learning experience at Mini Murrah Farm, where they explored Thai traditional activities outside the classroom. They tried rice planting, made paper from rice straw, collected duck eggs to make salted eggs and enjoyed a farm tour on a train. The children also fed animals and had lots of fun sliding in the mud—a new and exciting experience for everyone. Although they got messy, they discovered that happiness and fun can be found everywhere. It was a day filled with smiles, laughter and unforgettable memories.
As part of the Year 8 Thai Programme, students visited Ayutthaya, exploring the historic sites of Wat Chaiwatthanaram and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Walking among the ancient ruins and sacred temples, they gained a deeper appreciation for Thai heritage and cultural preservation. The experience brought history to life, reinforcing their classroom learning and broadening their perspectives as globally minded individuals. Additionally, reflecting on the visit helped enhance their descriptive writing skills, allowing them to express their thoughts on history with greater depth.

SPORTS UPDATE
Last weekend saw over 150 students participating in sports tournaments across the region. We are thankful to all the coaches who gave up full days to provide these exciting opportunities for our students.
U18 JV BMAC Rugby Tournament
The senior boys have been training hard during their activities and were finally able to attend a six-school tournament hosted by NIST in Bangkok. During the tournament, the boys supported each other well and managed to win three very competitive games to progress to the final. ISB were the final competitors and our team managed to clinch the game 17-7 and were crowned champions. This was a fantastic achievement for the rugby programme.
U14 Softball at BPS
Our U14 softball teams were invited to their second tournament this season as students continue to develop their skills in this upcoming sport. With an expected mixture of wins and losses, the students had a fantastic experience and are excited about more fixtures in the future.
U18 Basketball - D Prep Round Robin
Our first D Prep tournament was a great opportunity to ensure all students who are part of a basketball activity had the opportunity to compete. The students worked hard with both boys and girls finishing with one win and one loss.
U18 Basketball - BISA Varsity and Junior Varsity End of Season Tournament
The senior basketballers closed their busy season with some incredible performances. Facing injuries, tiredness and a full Sunday of basketball, the teams battled through the day. Our Varsity boys finished second and our Junior Varsity boys finished 5th, while our Varsity girls finished third and our Junior Varsity girls finished second.
U13 BISA End of Season Volleyball
The U13 volleyball teams headed to King's College for a full day of volleyball with 13 teams present. The effort and energy of our students was on show for everyone to see and the students chanted each other to many victories. Overall, the U13 students have greatly improved their volleyball skill set through the season and volleyball certainly has a bright future. Our boys and girls teams both finished in third place.
U15 BISA End of Season Volleyball
The senior volleyball players headed to different venues in Bangkok to play in their BISA end of season tournaments. The girls faced tough competition in Shrewsbury and Harrow however managed to finish in a respectable 5th place. The boys continued their improvement and overcame their midweek local loss to reach the final. Unfortunately despite playing well, they were beaten by Shrewsbury and finished in excellent second place.
ESAC meet at GIS Rayong
Our Prep swimmers had a great day out in Rayong for the ESAC swimming meet with many top 3 finishes and a win in the U11 boys relay which rounded off the day.
Bangkok Prep U6-U11 Puppy Dash
Over 30 young swimmers took to the pools of Bangkok Prep for the day on Saturday as many personal best times were recorded and the swimmers shared plenty of happy team moments - well done to all involved.
Charity Sports Day with Pattaya Sports Club
On Saturday, over 100 children from six orphanages came to our School to enjoy the facilities and compete in various sports. The children participated in an official football tournament, a small athletics competition and also used the WEC to have friendly basketball and volleyball games. Special thanks goes to our RSTMAD team, Iysa P (Year 13 support levee), all senior student helpers and the teachers who came - all of their amazing work on the day enabled the event to go ahead and run smoothly.
