FUNDRAISING VENTURE
RST Crafts is a new, student-led initiative aimed to help our Senior students unwind by combining their favourite hobbies with a shared passion for making a difference. The students created a variety of beautiful hand-made crafts, delicious baked goods and study notes. They began this journey by offering pre-orders to other RST members and with the help of the Senior School social committee, were able to organise an event earlier this month during break time. This effort raised a total of 10,000 THB which was donated to Operation Smile, a non-profit organisation that offers life-changing medical care to children and adults with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. The opportunity to support such a meaningful cause truly inspired all the students involved in this first event and motivated them to continue making a positive impact.

HOUSE SONG COMPETITION
Before the half term, our students battled it out in our House Song competition - a contest where our students were encouraged to work together in their Houses to choreograph performances, use costumes and props and ultimately ensure that everybody came together to deliver their best singing performance. Our House competitions allow students to build confidence, foster School spirit and create lasting memories and this event was no different. Our judges Mr Cain and Mr Stoker had the difficult task of deciding the winning house which was given to Tudor House and their performance of Billy Joel's 'Uptown Girl', followed closely by School House with 'Viva La Vida' by Coldplay.

YEAR 3 DONATION DRIVE
During Learner Profile Week, Year 3 students met and listened to Ady talk about his rescue and rehabilitation work at Second Chance Dog Rescue in Pattaya. Students and staff generously brought in bags of dog food over the course of the week, to donate to the 80+ dogs at the shelter. Our Year 3 students also took time to reflect on the importance of the work carried out by Ady and his team and wrote postcards to thank the volunteers at the shelter. The team were blown away by the generosity of donations and the thoughtfulness in showing gratitude by our Year 3 students. We are so proud of our students and would like to say a big thank you to the families who supported this project.

MUSIC RECITAL
Forty talented Prep students showcased their musical skills this week in a truly fantastic recital. The diverse programme ranged from classical Brahms waltzes to popular contemporary hits, demonstrating the students' hard work and dedication. The high quality of the performances was a testament to both the students' efforts and the support of our Visiting Music Teachers. A big thank you also goes out to parents for their continued encouragement and appreciation of music education.

LIBRARY ILLUSTRATIONS
In 2021, A Level student, Anja, illustrated all the Non-Fiction category pictures for our library which were hugely loved by our children and parents. Fast forward to today and Anja is now at university in Canada studying Computer Science. She still has a passion for art and so we commissioned her to do a piece of work for our beautiful library again - this time drawing all the category pictures for the Fiction side.
In doing so, she finished the wonderful work she started and her drawings became signposts to help our children navigate their way around the library and grow in independence.
These drawings have added such a special touch to our much-loved library and we hope Anja's work will serve to inspire a generation of young readers and artists alike.

Reminders

EAL LESSONS FOR PARENTS
Our EAL (English as an Additional Language) lessons for parents have so far been a great success, with both beginner and intermediate level parents participating. We aim to focus on real-world English usage and help parents support their child's learning at home. These lessons have been designed with a fun, engaging format to encourage a supportive community environment. Our first lesson covered greetings and provided information on how phonics is taught, with tips on how to support children at home. Parents also actively participated in a 'small talk' role-play to enhance their conversational skills. The second lesson focused on how to read with your child and applying phonics while developing comprehension skills. A fun role-play simulating parent-teacher conferences further added to the learning experience. We look forward to welcoming parents back for more EAL lessons.

Boarding Life

A SNAPSHOT OF BOARDING LIFE
Boarding life is full of fun activities and friendships, with a bit of device and study time thrown in too!
Wish you were here? If you're interested in part, weekly or full boarding, get in touch with admissions@rugbyschool.ac.th who can give you more information or arrange a trial night.

Last night, Mr Grindlay visited Marshall House to see what our Prep School boarders get up to. A few of the boys made him and Dr Grindlay a fresh juice and asked for feedback before they serve it at the Marshall House charity ‘Market Day’ later this term. The juice received a two thumbs up and has also been renamed ‘Grindlay Goodness'. For every juice that is sold at the charity event, Mr Grindlay will donate an additional 20 baht! Nana and Hana then gave them a tour around the house, while everyone else enjoyed a standard Thursday night with friends.
