OPPIDAN MENTORING AWARDS
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that our School has achieved a Bronze Award in the Oppidan Mentoring Awards 2025 - a fantastic achievement, particularly as this is the first year of running the mentoring programme at RST. This award is a testament to the amazing work happening in our School to support the mentoring and character development for our E and D block students, 72 students in total, who are all actively and enthusiastically engaged.
Mrs Pearce, Head of LXX (Year 12) said "it is truly an honour to support and guide the Oppidan mentors. We are incredibly proud that nearly 30% of our Year 12 cohort chose to volunteer for this inaugural programme, demonstrating their commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of younger students within our community."

Reminders
PARENT ID BADGES
To enhance campus safety, all adults on campus are required to wear an ID badge with a designated coloured lanyard. Parents can obtain a lanyard at the main Reception area. If you have a red visitor's lanyard, please return it to Reception or security personnel as soon as possible and do not take it home with you. If your lanyard cannot access the security gate, please visit Reception to have your lanyard updated.
This measure helps our staff quickly identify authorised individuals on campus and ensure the safety of all our students. Our staff and security have been instructed to ask for identification when encountering a person without a lanyard and ID badge. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our School a safe and secure environment.

UK ALUMNI VISIT
Our Head of Senior School, Mr Groves and our Higher Education Adviser, Mr Markes, were in London recently visiting universities and reconnecting with alumni. The visit saw them meeting with admissions staff from various institutions in the capital and catching up with former students at our inaugural UK alumni reunion. The event was part of our School's commitment to staying connected with our graduates and learning from their experiences beyond RST. These connections are not only valuable in celebrating their success but also in creating a global network of alumni who can support and inspire current students.
Read more about the alumni reunion and the UK visit in our latest blog post here.

HOUSE WATER POLO
Our first-ever Inter-House Water Polo competition made a big impression, both in and out of the pool. Hosted at the WEC swimming pools, the event brought together F and E Block (Year 9 and 10) students who stepped up with courage, competitive energy and strong sportsmanship. The atmosphere was electric, with house chants ringing out as teams battled through a series of thrilling and closely fought matches.
Just as the final round was gaining momentum, a lightning warning forced an early end to the competition. Although the matches could not be completed, the results were confirmed based on performances up to that point.
In the girls’ competition, Rupert Brooke took third place, Southfield came second and Tudor House secured a well-deserved first. For the boys, Town House placed third while School House and Sheriff House shared the top spot in a tie.
We are already looking forward to the return of water polo next year, hopefully with clearer skies. In the meantime, attention now shifts to the upcoming Inter-House Table Tennis competition.

YEAR 3 THAI TRIP
Our Year 3 classes enjoyed a wonderful Thai Cultural Trip to Baan Roi Sao in the Takhian Tia community. The students experienced a way of life close to nature and explored traditional Thai wisdom through creative hands-on activities. They made eco-friendly fabric bags using real leaves and flowers, tried tie-dyeing with natural dyes from coconut husks and even learned to make khanom tom – a traditional Thai sweet coloured with natural ingredients. It was a joyful day filled with learning, creativity and the warm guidance of local community members. The students had a great time discovering the beauty of Thai culture outside the classroom.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ASSEMBLY
In last week's assembly, we were honoured to be joined by Noah (Year 13), who is RST's student support representative in the Levée. Noah took a break from revising for their A level exams to help us reflect on our identity and the identity of our close circle of friends. Focusing on the RST values of global mindedness and respect, we looked at how fortunate we are in an International School to be surrounded by people from around the world with diverse identities. We encouraged students to be aware of people online who seek to divide people based on their identity for their own ends, and how we at RST can stand up for our values and create a community where everyone is respected and belongs. Thank you, Noah and good luck in your exams!

UNWELL CHILDREN
If your child has a fever or is unwell, we kindly ask that parents keep them at home to help prevent the spread of germs. Giving children medicine and then sending them to School only masks their symptoms which then come out again later in the day when the medicine has worn off. Nurse Koy is very careful to ensure she checks children with symptoms and if they are deemed to be unwell then they must go home. We understand that this may not always be convenient for parents but it is important that children who are unwell get the rest they need at home. We ask for your support by not sending in unwell children and to collect them from School should the Nurse request this. Your cooperation is truly appreciated.

ART COMPETITION
Our annual Art Competition saw a fantastic range of creative entries this year, all inspired by the theme 'All About the Weather'. With so many imaginative pieces, it was a tough decision — but our jury from Prep and Senior managed to select three wonderful winners. Well done to all and a big thank you to everyone who participated.
Second runner up: Mia (Year 2)
First runner up: Aobaun (Year 1)
Winner: Phila (Reception)

HAND TO HAND VISIT
Year 2 had a wonderful time engaging with the Hand to Hand children’s foundation on their recent visit. Through dancing, playing and creating beautiful art, the children connected with the foundation’s message of kindness, support and community. It was a joyful and meaningful experience filled with fun and learning. We are always grateful to be able to offer such experiences to our children and to have the opportunity to work so closely with the Hand to Hand foundation.

TEDDY BEARS' PICNIC
Our children brought their favourite teddy bears (and other stuffed animals) to School last Friday and wore their best pyjamas as we celebrated our annual Teddy Bears' Picnic. We spent the day developing our speaking and listening skills, sharing fun facts about our teddy bears and describing them to our friends. Pre-Nursery and Nursery had a special morning picnic with yummy teddy bear cookies, while Reception and KS1 had an exciting picnic lunch in the hall - we even had a visit from a teddy bear that looked suspiciously like Miss Sarah! It was another super day for Pre-Prep and we look forward to our teddies all returning to see us again next year.
