MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL CELEBRATIONS
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional celebrations in Chinese culture, symbolising reunion, gratitude and the harvest moon.
Prep students learnt about mooncakes - the traditional food of the Mid-Autumn Festival - and created a lovely video to wish everyone “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival” in Mandarin, which you can find here on our social media!
The Senior School Mandarin teachers celebrated the festival with Chinese boarding students, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that united everyone.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS' GOLF TOUR (ISGT)
The Rugby School Thailand golf team got their 2025/26 International Schools’ Golf Tour season underway at Shrewsbury’s event, hosted at the prestigious Siam Country Club in Bangkok. Competing against 16 top international schools, our golfers delivered an excellent team performance in challenging, breezy conditions.
David J impressed with a superb round of 74, securing 3rd place in Flight C (U13 Boys), while Jimmy Z in Flight B (U16 Boys) also showed great consistency, posting a solid 76. Their efforts helped the boys’ team to finish tied 5th overall - just two shots shy of a podium finish.

PYATHAI HOSPITAL INTERNSHIP
In August, eight of our students participated in an exciting internship at Phyathai Hospital Sriracha. Over the course of three days, they rotated through several hospital departments and observed daily work in healthcare. As a group, the students said of the experience:
“This internship gave us an unforgettable glimpse into the medical profession. We saw how knowledge, teamwork and compassion come together in patient care. We also realised how much responsibility and resilience are required of doctors and medical staff.
We are deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at Phyathai Hospital Sriracha for welcoming us, teaching us and allowing us to observe their work so closely. This experience not only broadened our understanding of medicine but also strengthened our motivation to pursue it as a future career.”

EQUITY PARTNERSHIP SCHOOLS NETWORK
Last week, Siam Paragon hosted the Season 6 Celebration of the Equity Partnership Schools Network, showcasing creativity, innovation and collaboration among students, educators and industry partners.
RST students joined peers from six international schools, two university teams, and Thai schools supported by the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), with industry backing from the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT). Projects ranged from drip coffee and handwoven fabrics to eco-friendly cement ornaments and Thai crafts, all demonstrating design thinking, problem-solving and digital marketing skills in action.
Congratulations to our students - Captain, Pat, Korya, Peach, Put, Namhom and Yeepoon - who partnered with Bangkok and Phuket schools to create a soap product and a batik fabric room deodoriser. They presented their work live on stage with impressive confidence and entrepreneurial flair.
Special thanks go to Mrs Pearce for her continued support. The event was honoured by guest Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and Government Spokesperson, and RST Governor Khunying Kasama Varavarn, who celebrated the students’ achievements. The event was a wonderful reminder of how collaboration can drive creativity and equity in education.

TEDDY TALKS EAL TRAINING
We are excited to tell you about a special EAL training our Early Years Teaching Assistants (TAs) completed on Teddy Talks. The main goal was to help our early years TAs feel more confident when helping young children who are learning English. The training taught them a fun activity called Teddy Talk, a short, daily activity that uses a teddy bear and a "magic bag" of items. Teddy Talk is great because it is:
- Fun! It uses songs, stories and real toys.
- Safe! It gives children a safe place to practise speaking English, pretending to speak with a teddy without any pressure.
- Repetitive! It repeats words and sentences, which is the best way to learn a new language.
Our TAs learned how to do this activity by practising to be the teacher. They learnt good sentences and questions to use with the children who may speak other languages at home. Now, they are excited to use these Teddy Talk skills in the classroom to help your children learn English in a fun, positive way!

EYFS SWIMMING
We’ve had an amazing start to the year for Pre-Prep swimming. Our EYFS students have been learning and having fun in the splash pool, while our KS1 students have been working hard to master their backstroke. Of course, there’s always time for fun in KS1 swimming - after five weeks of practice, we celebrated with an exciting underwater treasure hunt!

MANDARIN
Our Pre-Prep students had a wonderful time learning about one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals - the Mid-Autumn Festival. They discovered the legend behind the festival and enjoyed listening to related songs that captured its festive spirit. Students also learned about the special food of the festival, the mooncake and the traditional activities of moon-gazing with family and playing with lanterns. To make the experience even more memorable, they immersed themselves in creating beautiful crafts inspired by the festival.
It was a joyful and meaningful way to help our young learners appreciate Chinese culture and traditions.

Sport & Enrichment
It was another busy and eventful weekend for RST Sport. Despite challenging weather conditions across Bangkok leading to several cancellations, our students showed excellent attitude, patience and team spirit throughout. Congratulations to all our athletes, coaches and staff for their continued hard work, positivity and sportsmanship - the RST spirit was on full display once again!
BISA SWIM MEET AT RST
Last Saturday, we hosted the BISA Short Course Age Group Championships 2025. The meet was an outstanding success on every level! RST delivered a smooth and highly efficient event, while our swim team achieved fantastic results in the pool.
Almost 60 swimmers from our team competed and while the turnout was impressive, the quality was even more remarkable. Many swimmers achieved personal bests, with some showing truly impressive improvements. We had representation in nearly every final, including three finalists in the skin sets.
Our swimmers excelled both individually and as a team, stepping up in crucial areas such as marshalling and the coach feedback system. A huge shoutout to our Parent Lightning Team, whose incredible support helped the event run seamlessly and efficiently.
Congratulations to all swimmers, coaches and parents, this was truly a team effort and a fantastic achievement for the RST Swim Team.

U18 BISA FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT AT RST
Our boys showed great determination in hot conditions across four competitive games. Despite strong performances, results didn’t quite go our way — one win, one draw and two narrow losses saw us finish 4th overall. A valuable experience and good preparation for the upcoming Vietnam trip.
U12 BASKETBALL INVITATIONAL AT ICS
Both teams showed great progress and resilience. The girls, with just five players and no substitutes, earned one win out of three. The boys played with confidence and teamwork, winning one and losing one before rain cut play short. A strong day of development for both teams.
U14 BASKETBALL INVITATIONAL AT RIS
The U14 boys claimed two wins out of three, while the girls battled hard for one victory and two close defeats. A challenging but rewarding day that highlighted excellent teamwork and determination.

U18 BISA END-OF-SEASON VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENTS
Our U18 girls showed tremendous improvement at Shrewsbury, finishing 2nd after a fantastic run and a narrow loss in the final. The U18 boys faced tough competition at STA, finishing 4th after a close bronze-medal match against Harrow. Both teams gained valuable experience ahead of the upcoming FOBISIA Tournament.
