Welcome Back!
We are very excited to start the new academic year, and cannot wait to welcome our boarders back tomorrow, and day students on Wednesday.
We have lots of exciting new updates to share, please see below for more information:
New Staff Welcomes
We are delighted to welcome 35 new teachers and their families to the RST community and we look forward to getting to know them better. They have been with us now for over a week getting to know the School and our expectations and educational philosophy. The existing staff joined them on Thursday last week to begin training and preparation for the start of Term One.
A full list of the new staff is available here.
We are particularly pleased to welcome Mr Rob Groves and his family to the School. Mr Groves becomes the Head of Senior after eleven hugely successful years at Shrewsbury International School, Bangkok.
Covid Protocols And No Online Learning Available
In line with government guidelines, these will be our protocols for this term:
- Masks are voluntary for all students, staff and parents.Positive cases must isolate for 7 days and can return to School if the ATK test on day 7 is negative and have no severe symptoms.
- The School nurses must be informed if your child tests positive (nurse@rugbyschool.ac.th).
Vaccinated primary contacts without symptoms can continue to attend School, but monitor symptoms. - Vaccinated primary contacts with symptoms must isolate for 5 days and test on day 1 and 5. They may return to School if they remain negative.
- Unvaccinated primary contacts must isolate for 5 days and test on day 1 and day 5. They may return to School if they remain negative.
- If you have symptoms, please test, otherwise there is no requirement for regular or weekly testing and reporting.
Please also note that online or hybrid lessons will no longer be available, so if your child is having to isolate, please do speak to their tutor or form teacher so that work can be set and uploaded as required.
Success at Rugby
We recently celebrated the A Level results with almost half the grades being an A or A* and one-third of the students achieving 3 or more As and A*s. What makes this more remarkable is the context these examinations were taken in. For this cohort, these were the first set of external examinations that they sat. From speaking to the teachers of the graduating class, I am delighted to hear of the resilience and hard work each student showed over the last two years. Well done Class of 2022!
Using standardised predictive testing, these results showed that Rugby School Thailand improves the performance of its students by, on average, one grade above predictions. This is an amazing achievement and I would like to thank the staff for their hard work. These results are a testament to the carefully crafted lessons that are delivered in the classroom and the all-round care and support of each student's tutor and our focus on educating The Whole Person.
There were some outstanding results with Grace achieving 5 A*s and Bogdan and Tan who achieved 3 A*s and one A. Following his results, Tan was awarded a full scholarship to study Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, London.
I wish the graduating Class of 2022 every success in their next step and look forward to hearing their stories when they come back to visit us.
Mr Robert Groves, Head of Senior
Summer Works Programme
There have been many projects completed over the long vacation (please see below for more details), but none has been more anticipated than the new Senior dining hall!
The contractors are working night and day to deliver the project on time, and we are very much looking forward to adopting the building in time for the start of term. The specification is of the highest standards, to ensure we can continue to provide tasty and nutritious meals for our community.
Over the summer, our Maintenance Department has worked incredibly hard to refresh various spaces around the School. We are excited to show you the new and improved areas around the campus:
Princess's (Royal) Visit
We are truly honoured that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is coming to Rugby School Thailand on the afternoon of Friday, 16th September to officially open the Senior teaching block. The Princess had been asked to name the building and she has decided on “Siddhi Meta” which is Sanskrit for “a place of wisdom and success,” She will unveil the plaque situated at the front of the building, along with the name and also view various displays of students’ work. Invitations to this event will follow shortly.
RSTPA Charity Golf Day
Whatever your ability, all are welcome! Parents, students, friends and staff are all warmly invited to join our first-ever RSTPA charity golf day. It should be a fantastic day and, not only a lot of fun, but also a great way to raise money for some worthwhile charities. Please do scan the QR code to register. You do not have to be a great golfer, it is all about taking part, enjoyment and raising money for charity.
Christmas Fair
We are excited to announce that our very popular Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday, 26 November this year, and will be organised by the RSTPA.
If you would like to volunteer to help, please do get in touch by emailing usa@rugbyschool.ac.th, as the organising committee still have a few spaces available.
Important Notices
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Please accept our sincere apologies for the lack of availability of a few items of uniform in a small number of sizes. The uniform shop has, unfortunately, been let down by their manufacturer, who has been affected by several Covid cases, which has prevented them from fulfilling the pre-order in time for the start of term.
We are working tirelessly to address this issue and to rectify the problem, and would like to thank you for your understanding.
USING SCHOOLZINE
In an effort to improve our communication even further, we are going to try to use the Schoolzine app more as it allows you to use the Google translate function, which we hope will be useful. At the moment the push notification and sound alerts are working but unfortunately the red dot notification is not currently operational. The company is aware of this fault and they are working to rectify the problem. In the meantime, please do check the app regularly.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
For those of you who were unable to collect your child’s School photo during the summer holidays, please collect it from the relevant School reception.
WEEKLY LUNCH MENU
From the start of this academic year, we will publish the Daily Lunch Menu on our website each Friday for the following week. To access it, either click the Menu tile on SchoolZine or please visit http://www.rugbyschool.ac.th (top of our Home Page).
Please note that there is currently a sample menu on the website, which will be updated later this week.

We have a new and improved way to view our School Calendar for you this year. You can filter by School section and find out what events are coming up each term. Simply click the Calendar tile on SchoolZine or please visit http://www.rugbyschool.
YOUR SCHOOL HAS GROWN!

We now have waiting lists in several year groups, for both this year and next year, so if you have siblings who you would like to join us over the next few years, please contact admissions@rugbyschool.ac.th early so you can reserve a place for them.
