BOARDING AT RST
Now is the time for your child to join our exciting boarding programme. Not only will they enjoy all the benefits of an award winning boarding education - and there are too many to list here - but, as of August, they will also gain access to each and every Saturday Enrichment session completely free of charge. That's right; Saturday Enrichment is free for all RST boarders, including part boarders too. That is Saturdays choosing from golf, coding, sailing, robotics, climbing, cooking, yoga, horse riding, water sports, rock band, scuba, recreational diving and more... all free for boarders at RST.
There is always so much going on in boarding, from early in the morning to last thing at night; our boarders are able to live their lives truly 'off line', mixing with like minded people, rather than retreating to a dark room and a device. The difference is striking; come see for yourself... Just contact us to arrange a tour of our state of the art boarding houses and meet with our experienced, caring boarding staff, all of whom are committed to making boarding the best it can be for everyone.
So, if your son or daughter is currently in Year 5 or above, if you feel they would benefit from building independence in a safe and secure environment at a young age, or building those crucial 'getting ready for university' skills in the older year groups, whilst also making lifelong friendships with international housemates of course, then boarding is certainly for them. There's no better time than now to think about boarding for your child; hurry, before all beds are taken.
Just contact our Director of Boarding, dennisbilling@rugbyschool.ac.th, or our Admissions dept, admissions@rugbyschool.ac.th, at any time.

Head's Assembly
This week, the School met for assembly to celebrate the successes of a number of students and present awards from House Drama competition (well done Rupert Brooke!) and the Senior School Chess competition. Savannah and Peam also launched the upcoming Battle of the Bands competition.
This term is challenging for our students in D Block to XX (Year 11 -13) as they are all facing external examinations. We discussed the importance of resilience in these moments and some tips on how to face these challenges. The importance of developing a growth mindset and accepting that there will be tough moments, but they will pass. The important part is how we react and bounce back from these moments. Often as humans, we can overly focus on the negatives, the US Army train soldiers to 'hunt the good stuff', which is a typically Army-esque phrase, to mean celebrate and recognise positive moments to balance any negatives.
Alongside our mindset, it is important to rely on our support networks and practise self care. Students perform better, and learn more, when they maintain healthy sleep habits, keep exercising, and maintain a balanced diet.
Good luck to all students taking examinations!

Year 4 Maths
Year 4 have been working hard to understand the value of decimal numbers. They can represent these numbers in multiple ways and are able to show their thinking by turning them into fractions! Keep up the versatile learning.
Year 4 English
Year 4 have been showcasing their versatility by using Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to explore futuristic city scapes. Children collaborated to generate vocabulary, which will help them write setting descriptions in a couple of weeks' time.
Year 6 Humanities
This term, Y6 Humanities students have developed their global mindedness by learning about how religious people have fought for justice throughout history. This week they were deciding ‘what does justice look like?’. This involved reflecting on the difference between things we need, and things we want. We also looked at examples of times when people have not received justice, such as Malala being refused an education, and segregation in the USA. Students worked together to plan their very own charity that could be used to fight against ‘injustices’! They communicated and collaborated very well with each other.

WEATHER
This term is unusually hot, and we want to ensure that all children are protected from the heat. Therefore, we kindly request that all children wear a hat at all times. Those without a hat will not be permitted to play outside of the shaded areas.
Additionally, with the rainy season approaching, we must follow our lightning protocols to ensure the safety of our students. If there is a storm warning within 16 kilometres, we will not allow children to go outside. Moreover, if a lightning warning is issued at the end of the day, we will close the School playground for safety reasons.
You can view our Health and Safety Policy here.

Pre-Nursery
We're going on a bear hunt; we're going to catch a BIG one! In Pre-Nursery we have been so excited to start our new topic of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We have had lots of fun exploring lots of bear-themed activities. We have sorted colourful bears, created bear paintings with our feet, practised taking our shoes and socks off to feel the swish-swashy grass and so much more.
Reception Foxes
The Foxes had an amazing week returning to School! They were thrilled to see their friends again, and the classroom was lively with laughter and chatter. They enjoyed playing, singing, and reading new stories about 3D shapes. The Foxes also love writing and had plenty of opportunities to practice their fine motor skills through various activities like playing with toys, decorating, and cleaning tables. Strong hands and flexible fingers are essential for beautiful writing.
Year 2 Hedgehogs
In Talk 4 Writing, the Hedgehogs are learning all about Journey stories and how to use the Story Mountain technique when planning and writing a journey story. This week, they are reading ‘Stickman’ by Julia Donaldson and using the Story Mountain to divide the story into 5 different parts; beginning, build-up, problem, solution and ending.
Spanish
Year 2 students in the Spanish class played a revision quiz with prizes and demonstrated impressive retention of the previous term's material. Congratulations! We have also begun our new topic, "La familia," featuring the "Baby Shark"/Tiburon bebe family.
Year 1 students have started learning a new song, which they already adore. Be prepared to hear them singing it at home once they have learned all the lyrics! They also created a "Fruit Wonderwall" consisting of their favourite fruits, as they have the freedom to choose what they want to learn this term.
Lastly, Reception students practised introducing themselves by saying "My name is..." and reviewed the colours they learnt before the holidays by creating a beautiful rainbow.
Makaton Signing
This week we learned the signs for:
‘To like’, ‘to want’, ‘to help’.
A huge thank you to Gecko class for their help in making the video.
Happy signing!

PREP BAKING CLUB
Activities for Term 3 are in full swing and once again, we have the very popular Baking Club. This week, we made Anzac Biscuits as it was Anzac Day on Tuesday 25 April. We also welcomed three of our F Block students, who came to support us with our culinary skills. You can have a go at making your own Anzac Biscuits at home by following this recipe - https://www.taste.com.au/
PREP COOKING CLUB
In this week's cooking activity, students whipped up a batch of delectable chocolate oat balls. The recipe was simple yet delicious, using ingredients like oats, cocoa powder, butter and sugar. The students enjoyed rolling the mixture into bite-sized balls and were proud of their tasty creations that were then rolled in shredded coconut. They demonstrated excellent teamwork and collaboration by reading the recipe carefully and following steps individually.
PREP KIDPRENEUR ACTIVITY
Kidpreneur students setting goals about their future careers and having mini board-room meetings discussing problems in our lives and how we can solve them. This activity is teaching students how to become entrepreneurs! This will awaken their entrepreneurial skills at a young age where they can learn simple business and budget plans.
PREP ADVANCED ART ACTIVITY
The Advanced Art activity group visited the local cafe, We Story, to draw and taste their delicious cakes. The students made studies in pen and pencil as references to develop into watercolour paintings back at School. The finished pieces are mouth-wateringly wonderful!
