Learning
GEOGRAPHY
We have been learning about the processes and erosional formations found on coastlines.
These include the sequenced formation of a cliff, crack, cave arch, stack, and stump. These are some images of the student's work, where they used Play-Doh to create models and labelled them to include the process and landforms.
It is a great way for the students to communicate and use teamwork to embed their knowledge.
Design and Technology (D&T)
In D&T over the past couple of weeks F block students have been pouring resin, cutting, filing, and sanding their Mosquito Coil Holder project to match their final design idea and get them ready for final assembly. Many students are now polishing their resin to create a super shiny finish. LXX and E block students have just started their IGCSE major coursework project, where they need to identify a number of potential problems to solve through the design and making of a product. This is challenging and yet very exciting as the students identify their own project idea that they will have to sketch design work, develop, model and eventually make a final product.
LXX are also learning theoretical underpinning knowledge using practical activities which have included turning brass bars on the centre lathe, turning wood on the lathe, cutting, shaping and marking out timbers to make their very own accurate 1/5th scale Lego figure. This is such a great skills project, resulting in a multi-faceted outcome that also teaches lots of theory content for the course.

ASSESSMENT WEEK
After the upcoming half term, we have scheduled our annual Assessment Week. During this week, all assessments will be conducted in class, following the same format as the assessments held throughout the year. Our primary goal is to ensure a pressure-free and stress-free environment for our students whilst also promoting their overall academic success.
We kindly request that you support us in maintaining this relaxed atmosphere by refraining from expecting your child to engage in any additional work or revision during the break or at home and allow them to recharge and enjoy their time away from School.
It's important to note that continuous monitoring and assessment are integral to our teaching and learning practices. By consistently evaluating our students' progress, we can identify their strengths and areas for development, which will then be communicated to you through our reporting cycle.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Assessment Week or any other matter, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Best regards,
Mrs Sara Howell

LAMDA showcase
Last week, we invited our parents to a world of theatre to watch our LAMDA students perform their monologues. Over the course of the year, they have been practising and preparing for their LAMDA exams. The Showcase allowed our students to perform in front of an audience; for some of them for the very first time. Huge congratulations to all students for showing courage, resilience and versatility on stage and we wish them all the luck in their upcoming exams.
Music Recitals
Congratulations to all the students who performed at our recent concert. It was brilliant from the first note to the last. It showcased a wide range of music genres, composers and instruments. The students are commended for their resilience, risk-taking and global-mindedness. Their talent and musical development is outstanding for this age group.

RSTPA
I would like to thank our parent reps who have worked this year to represent each year group: Khun Manita (PN), Khun Xioafeng (N), Khun Nuch (Rec), Khun Adriana (Y1) and Khun Maude (Y2) . They have helped to build better relationships between the School and the parents and to answer your questions and concerns.
Thank you (and I hope they consider continuing next year!)
TRANSITION TO THE NEXT YEAR
As we near the end of the School year, we are thinking about the transition programmes for both the children and you, the parents. Some of the transitions are very simple with little change taking place such as Pre-Nursery to Nursery and Year 1 to 2, others are larger transitions. Actual class lists will be sent out to you in August prior to the children starting. This happens then because new students are still enrolling over the summer holidays. We have several events taking place in June and also in August and September.
Please click on the link below for more information regarding the transition events for each year group:

Nursery Owls
Kaleidoscopes and Air Rockets
During STEAM Week in Nursery Owls class, our little scientists and engineers delved into the fascinating world of Sir David Brewster. They eagerly engaged in hands-on activities, such as crafting kaleidoscopes to explore the wonders of light and patterns. Additionally, they embraced the principles of aerodynamics by building and launching air rockets and discovering the power of propulsion. These exciting projects spark their curiosity and foster an ongoing love for scientific exploration and experimentation.
Year 1 Show: Amazing Asian Animals
Year 1 have been working so hard on their Summer show which links to their topic this term. Each class has been learning about an animal and they had prepared some fantastic facts. Tuesday's show saw sun bears, tigers, reticulated pythons and monkeys all singing and speaking on stage. The facts were clearly presented, Talk for Writing style and the songs were sung with energy.
It was a spectacular, colourful and educational show - one of the best Year 1 shows I have seen! A great big well done to the children in Year 1 and a thank you to the teaching team for their hard work. It was truly fabulous. More photos and video recording will be shared later on Seesaw.
Year 2s visit to the OEC
Our Year 2s visited the Outdoor Education Centre (OEC) this week and learned a lot of fascinating new skills; spotting birds by using binoculars, building a shelter with sticks, ropes and plastic sheets and using compasses to find directions.
Playtime
A cooler day this week and the children were so happy! Climbing, swinging, bouncing and having fun!
