NON-UNIFORM DAY
Monday, 19th June is a Non-Uniform Day to raise money for Childline Thailand.
Childline provides children in Thailand with trusted and reliable access to protection, health and human services, as is their right, and which the Thai Government adheres to through its ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child.
We are proud to be working closely with Childline Thailand and pleased to be able to help this most worthy of causes. Your son/daughter should hand 100THB to their Tutor (Prep and Senior), or class teacher/office (Pre-Prep) at the start of the morning on that day.
Thank you all for your support.
LITPOD
This week is the final release of LitPod, a podcast series discussing the wonderful world of literature brought to you by the Senior Tech Team. In Episode 3: Reading and Accessibility, your gracious hosts Pun and Katie are joined by the magnificent Mrs Pearce and sophisticated Mr Spreyer to explore a perhaps more political aspect of literature. In yet another fascinating journey cut short, they discuss the importance of making literature more accessible, its implications for education and society as a whole, and much more.
As this is the final episode, we hope that you have enjoyed this LitPod series and that it has ignited a little bit of curiosity. Previous episodes are available on the RST YouTube channel and the LitPod website. Stay tuned for future podcasts from the Tech Team.
Salutations…for now!

Make A Difference (MAD)
On Wednesday, three of our students visited the Tamar Centre in Pattaya, where they enjoyed a short tour of the premises and a meeting with the amazing ladies who train and work there. The main point of the visit was to collect three large batches of RST colour greeting cards, designed by art competition winners, Victoria (Year 3) and Dee-Dee (LXX), and hand-manufactured by the Tamar ladies. They were joined by Lily (LXX) as our Senior Levée for Service.
Our greeting cards celebrate the wonderful moment when Rugby UK schoolboy William Webb Ellis picked up a football and ran with it, precisely 200 years ago. These will soon be on sale in the School shop and at various events on the School site. Smaller batches are also being shipped to Rugby UK and Rugby Japan as part of the wider celebration of the birth of the game of rugby, and therefore showcases the fabulous artwork of RST students, Victoria and Dee-Dee.
Eco Garden Update
Over the past fortnight, we have dedicated substantial efforts to the development and maintenance of our Eco Garden. Our endeavours encompassed various aspects, including the cultivation of fresh vegetables, culinary activities employing our garden's produce, and the creation of a unique beverage known as RSTea.
This week, we proudly introduce our RSTea products, carefully crafted from exquisite ingredients such as butterfly pea, lemongrass, and pandan leaves. These natural elements are meticulously selected to ensure the highest quality and flavour profiles.
Furthermore, we have successfully conceptualised and designed our Eco Garden & Zero Waste Logo, symbolising our commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness. This logo serves as a visual representation of our collective efforts to promote a greener, more sustainable future.
Through our dedicated work in the Eco Garden and the establishment of our brand identity, we strive to inspire others and create awareness regarding the importance of eco-friendly practices and waste reduction.

F BLOCK ARTS REVIEW
We are delighted to invite parents of F Block students to watch the F Block Arts Review on Tuesday, 20th June at 4.30pm in the Black Box theatre.
Students in the F Block have worked very hard this year and the review is an exciting opportunity for your children to show you what they have been doing during their art, music and drama lessons. All F Block students will be in attendance and contributing their work.
At 4.30pm, you will have the opportunity to view your child’s artwork in a pop-up gallery, whilst also enjoying light refreshments. We will then move into the Black Box theatre to watch a series of music and drama performances. We anticipate that the event will be finished at approximately 6pm, so please arrange transport to take them home at this time if they are a day student.
If you are able to attend, it would be very helpful if you could sign up via this Google Form by clicking the link or scanning the QR code before Wednesday 14th June, so that we have an idea of catering numbers. Seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Learning
ART
LXX were excited to visit Mr Stephen Gormley's Glass Associates studio and factory last week. They walked through the factory floor viewing the variety of processes he uses and asked questions along the way. They were then able to discuss the individual designs that they wish to make. LXX artists will continue to visit during activities to pursue their design ideas using the moulds and sandblasting techniques. We hope to be able to show you their results soon. The end of the tour finished in the gallery where they viewed some of Mr Gormley's larger and more spectacular personal pieces that he has made throughout his career.
DRAMA
Just before half term, F Block students completed their practical drama exam. Their task was to cast, rehearse and perform a scene from the play they have been studying this term: Face by Benjamin Zephaniah. There were so many fantastic performances and we are very proud of the students for the effort that they put into this performance. We can't wait to show a few of these scenes to F Block parents at the Arts Review on Tuesday, 20th June.

Science
We have been having lots of fun in Science this term!
Y4 studied the strange properties of non-Newtonian liquids by making oobleck, also proving that the best chemistry work often ends up with some of the chemistry on it.
Year 5 have been learning about the Earth and space. One of the biggest challenges they faced was not eating too many Oreos when they created models to show the phases of the moon.
Year 7 have been working on their communication and collaboration skills, making videos explaining atoms, molecules, elements, compounds and mixtures.
Year 8 have been studying sound and learned that a really low-tech form of communication (a telephone made from cups and string) is fun and surprisingly effective. Being globally minded and stepping into the shoes of the visually impaired, the students also tried to develop their echolocation skills, mimicking a process used by bats and dolphins.

Please remember to wear your Parent ID at all times when accessing Pre-Prep. If you do forget it, you will need to exchange a photograph ID for a visitor badge at the office or you will not be allowed access to Pre-Prep. If you have lost your parent ID, please contact Khun Bui or Khun Jam.
MAD JUNIORS' CLOSET CLEANOUT
The MAD Juniors invite you to a closet cleanout!
We are encouraging parents, teachers and our friends in Pre Prep to go through their toys, books, clothes and even stationery to see if there is anything that you are not using anymore and would be willing to donate to a good cause.
As the end of the year is approaching fast, we may have many toys and books at home that we don't use anymore but are still in great condition for someone else to use. Some of us may have grown taller and out of our clothes and shoes, but somewhere out there may be someone who can put them to excellent use.
There will be a big donation box outside of the gate, and the MAD Juniors want to encourage everyone to take part in our closet cleanout.
Donations can be made from now until the 28th June, thank you so much for your support.
We accept no money and no newly bought goods, only things donated from your home that can be used again, please.
All the donations will go to Take Care Kids - they will be SO happy!
Please find the link to their website here for more information: http://www.takecarekids.org/en/home-en/

Reception Geckos
This week, it was the turn of the Gecko class to lead the Wake 'n' Shake session. They showed that they are just like 'Go For It Gorillas' by standing on the stage to show the other children what to do. The children danced along to their favourite songs and had a wonderful time while exercising their bodies.
Year 2
This week, Year 2 started our transition activities to prepare our children for life in Year 3. We have been to visit, and play on, the big playground at the prep building. We have also started swimming
lessons in the big pool at the CGA. The children are very excited about moving up and can’t wait to meet their new teachers.
STEAM Day
On STEAM Day, Wednesday, 31st May, Pre-Prep had an exciting and engaging day dedicated to exploring the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). The purpose of this special day was to learn about and celebrate the accomplishments of famous individuals who have made significant contributions to the fields of STEAM.
In each classroom, students were introduced to influential figures in STEAM and participated in a variety of hands-on activities related to their respective fields of expertise. The classrooms were transformed into interactive learning spaces, with photos and informative displays about the important people in STEAM.
Makaton Signing
This week, we have been learning the signs for:
‘Sun’, ‘rain’, ‘wind’
Thank you to the Nursery Bear class for their help in making the video.
Happy signing!
MAD Juniors
Last week, the MAD Juniors volunteered to make a difference in our cleaners' lives. We asked them lots of questions about their daily tasks, where they clean, what is their favourite thing about working at RST & how we could help them.
We then decided to help them! We helped clean the bathrooms, toilets, classrooms and even windows. We reflected and realised what a big role they play at RST and how thankful we are for them.

Although they narrowly lost in the semifinals, they rallied to claim 3rd place out of 16 teams. Meanwhile, the U12 girls dominated their group of 12 teams, remaining undefeated and advancing to the final. With an impressive comeback, they scored two late goals to equalise the score and won the trophy in a penalty shootout, thanks to goalkeeper Yuko's exceptional saves. In the U15 girls' tournament, RST battled fiercely, ultimately winning both their final-day games to become the champions. Throughout the tournament, the students displayed exemplary sportsmanship and represented the School admirably both on and off the field.
