Highlights of the Week
F BLOCK PATHWAYS
All F Block students have been choosing their IGCSE options, which is an important step in their RST academic journey. The F Block Pathways event was an opportunity for parents and students to discuss this step and help them with their choices. Parents heard presentations from Mr Groves, Head of Senior, Dr Grindlay, Deputy Head Academic and Ms Cecil, Head of Higher Education and Careers, which outlined the process. After that, there was an opportunity to talk to Heads of Department about the different choices available.
Please click on the link below to view the presentation:
BRONZE DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD
Last weekend, 28 F Block students successfully completed their Bronze qualifying expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The journey was marked by impressive displays of resilience and teamwork as the students faced challenges while hiking, camping, and cooking. Throughout the expedition, they uplifted each other's spirits, creating lasting memories that will contribute to their resilience and character development. Miss Quinn and Mrs de Villiers expressed immense pride in guiding these students through this transformative journey.
ARMY MEET AT RUGBY SCHOOL THAILAND
Last week, we hosted the Army Meet for RST parents, offering detailed insights into the application process and crucial information for almost 63 ROTC (RorDor) students. Captain Suchart Plubplee from Chonburi Military served as our speaker, clarifying the regulations of the Thai ROTC programme.
Excitingly, ROTC is now part of our enrichment activities, led by dedicated staff both within and beyond School premises in collaboration with the Thai military. This programme not only builds character but also enhances fitness, contributing to holistic student development.
Choosing a School with the ROTC programme brings unique advantages, including special exemptions for RorDor graduates and students can avoid uncertainties related to military service conscription by opting for a School with this programme.
For students aged 15 and above, signing up for RorDor involves a three-year training period, culminating in a multi-day camp. Completion of the programme grants an official exemption document from military service conscription at age 21.
RST remains committed to providing comprehensive opportunities that enrich the lives and futures of our students.

Highlights of the Week
YEAR 3
Year 3 were very excited to receive their pen pal letters from the students at Bilton Grange last week, finding out about their families, hobbies and what School is like for them. Likewise, they have enjoyed writing their replies sharing their favourite foods, festivals and activities, ending with many more questions they are looking forward to having answered.
YEAR 4
Year 4 science had the important task of helping some members of Prep and Senior SMT solve a big mystery. They had to figure out who snuck onto the campus by looking at the 'organic remains' left behind. The students used their knowledge of food chains to figure out who our suspects were!
YEAR 5 AND 6 AND THAI CULTURAL TRIPS
Year 5
Year 5 students embarked on a Thai Culture Trip to the Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Parks in Nakhon Pathom on Tuesday this week. They explored the herbal garden, tasting the different flavours and discovering the unique benefits of various herbs. Engaging in a hands-on activity, the students created a herbal inhaler by selecting their preferred scents.
They also visited an exhibition room showcasing fascinating information about elements in nature, in addition to planting herbs known for relieving fatigue, which they brought home. Expat students had the opportunity to learn various Thai vocabulary through activities related to Thai herbs, and everyone enjoyed the activities. All Year 5 students gained valuable knowledge and had a delightful learning experience during this Thai Culture Trip.
Year 6
Year 6 students visited the Wisdomking Museum in Pathum Thani on last Thursday. They explored the interactive exhibitions showcasing King Bhumibol's works and wisdom, illustrating the Thai way of life and agriculture. The highlight was the "growing rice" activity where students had the opportunity to experience rice cultivation, both transplanting seedlings and direct seeding. This hands-on activity helped students understand the origins and challenges of rice cultivation.
They had the chance to plant rice in the paddy fields and thoroughly enjoyed the engaging experience. In addition, students watched a 3D animation narrating the story of King Bhumibol and his efforts to improve the lives of farmers through various royal projects, such as the "Royal Rainmaking Project" and "Biodiesel Project." The animated presentation enhanced students' comprehension of the significance of royal initiatives in the lives of the Thai people.
YEAR 8
Year 8 French students practised their restaurant language at La Crèmerie today. They will then write up their experience in French as part of their homework. A wonderful atmosphere et très délicieux!
HOUSE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE QUIZ
A triumphant wave of knowledge swept through our Arnold, Beauclerc, Webb Ellis, and Hardy Houses as we recently hosted an exhilarating House General Knowledge Quiz.
With three distinct events catering to different age groups - Y3/Y4, Y5/Y6, and Y7/Y8 - the competition was fierce, and the energy infectious. In a stunning display of intellect and teamwork, Hardy emerged victorious in both the Y3/Y4 and Y5/Y6 categories, showcasing their impressive knowledge across various subjects.
Meanwhile, Beauclerc claimed the crown in a closely contested Y7/Y8 event. With teams composed of four bright minds each, the House General Knowledge Quiz was more than a competition; it was a celebration of camaraderie, intellect, and House pride! Congratulations to all participants for a quiz event to remember!

Highlights of the Week
EXPLORING EAGLE DAY
Pre-Prep has been busy learning more about one of our Learner Profile characters, Exploring Eagle. All across the School, the children took part in exciting activities that encouraged them to be curious, learn new skills, and explore ideas or areas that they had never seen or learnt about before. They completed amazing science investigations, worked in our beautiful outdoor areas, and were fantastic at being explorers.
As part of Exploring Eagle Day, our young scientists in Pre-Prep turned the classrooms into laboratories for a day full of hands-on experiments! There were many exciting experiments, including bubbling potions, testing cars on different materials, ice painting, paper plane races, and so much more! As a special treat, a Senior scientist wowed us with mind-blowing experiments during our Friday assembly - see more below:
SCIENCE ASSEMBLY
Miss Ricketts, head of chemistry in Senior, hosted an engaging science assembly in pre-prep, exploring chemistry highlights. She demonstrated reaction rates, featuring the catalysed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, known as the elephant's toothpaste. In a captivating demonstration, a catalyst orchestrated the transformation of hydrogen peroxide into water, steam, and oxygen, leaving pre-prep students wide-eyed.
The excitement continued with an experiment using ethanol vapour as fuel, creating a mesmerising controlled fire that captured the attention of our pre-prep students. To conclude, Miss Ricketts introduced the vibrant world of chemical changes, using universal indicator solutions to showcase the diverse hues produced with acid, base, and water solutions. The pre-prep students marvelled at the colourful transformations, making the science assembly a memorable and educational experience for everyone.
YEAR 2 TALK FOR WRITING
As part of the hook for our new Talk for Writing unit, Year 2 had a special visitor this week!
An alien called Zarg came to see them and asked for help to build a spaceship to take him home, as he had crash-landed on our strange planet. Our "Creative Chameleons" got straight on the task!
As part of the cold task for Talk for Writing, Year 2 had to write down as many facts as they could remember about Zarg.
Before he left, the children also got to take some lovely photos with him and asked some insightful questions!
Well done Year 2!
ART IN PRE-PREP
What is Art in Pre-Prep? What do we learn? For answers to these questions, and to see the children describe what they like about art and how it makes them feel, watch the video below:
YEAR 2 SPORTS DAY
The Year 2 Sports Day was a whirlwind of excitement as young athletes showcased their budding talents in a medley of fun and friendly competitions.
Laughter, cheers, and a spirit of camaraderie filled the air, making it a memorable day of active participation and joyful athleticism for our vibrant Year 2 students.

We have introduced a new Zumba Party class. The lively beats and invigorating dance moves are creating a vibrant atmosphere, fostering inclusivity and a sense of community. Led by our fantastic instructor, this class is designed for all, offering not just a workout but a celebration of movement and well-being. It's not just an exercise class; it's an ongoing fiesta of fitness!
CREATIVE SCRAPBOOKING
This week, students had a little walk down memory lane and creatively crafted a page with some of their most cherished moments. The theme was "vintage" which they totally pulled off using their DIY coffee-stained paper.
Y3-Y6 CHOIR ACTIVITY
Our Y3-Y6 Choir continues to shine as a beacon of musical fun and enjoyment! The dedication and enthusiasm of our students in every practice and performance are truly remarkable. Under the seasoned guidance of our talented singing teacher, the choir has evolved into a harmonious blend of voices, creating beautiful melodies that flow throughout the School. The joy and camaraderie among the students are palpable, showcasing not just their musical prowess but also their sheer enjoyment of the art. The Y3-Y6 Choir stands as a testament to the ongoing success of our musical endeavours, and we're incredibly proud of the students' achievements and the positive spirit they bring to each session.

12 boys’ teams and 10 girls’ teams competed over an action-packed and fun-filled two days.
The level of basketball by all teams was outstanding, but the sportsmanship on display and the friendly nature of all the games were real highlights. It was amazing to see students making new friends from other schools in between matches, during the fun shooting competition, and at the Gala barbeque on Friday evening.
Congratulations to Amnuay Silpa and St Andrews, Bangkok who were crowned champions of the girls’ and boys’ tournaments, respectively.
