KARUNYAWET SITE VISIT
This week, Senior Head boy, Ronnie, and Deputy Head girl, Lynne, visited the premises of Karunyawet Centre, a sheltered home for elderly and disabled women. Ronnie and Lynne had previously arranged a Senior dress-up day which raised ฿35,000 for a charity of their choosing. Last year, Ronnie and the School House service team raised ฿25,000 for Karunyawet and the intention is to maintain RST-MAD support for this worthy foundation on an annual basis.
It was Lynne’s first visit to Karunyawet and she discovered a thriving community of 90 disabled women, with an age range of 18 – 90, many of whom require full time care. Khun Boonsita, a supervisor at Karunyawet Centre, explained that Karunyawet depended greatly on private donors to supplement the state allocation of ฿57 per woman per day.

RECEPTION
The visit to the Outdoor Education Centre (OEC) is an essential part of transitioning and preparing Reception students for their regular visits to the OEC in Year 1. Children should wear their PE kit and trainers as usual. Please ensure they bring their hats and water bottles. If needed, apply sun cream and insect spray at home before the visit. The visit will last for one hour. In the event of adverse weather, we will reschedule the visit.
DANCE SHOW
On Friday, 24th May, we will showcase our Dance activity programme with short performances from our dancers, and our Activity Singing group will also perform. Dancers, please arrive by 8am to prepare for the show. Parents of performers are welcome to attend. The show will start at 9am and doors will open at 8:45am.
HAIR DRYERS
Please do not send hairdryers to School. After swimming, all the children have their hair thoroughly towel-dried. Long hair is then left down to dry naturally, and the air conditioning is turned off to help with this process. External electrical equipment, like hairdryers, may not be safe as they are not inspected and approved like the items at School. Additionally, we do not have the time to dry everyone's hair individually. Rest assured, we ensure that all hair is well towel-dried.

RECEPTION BIKE TO SCHOOL
Reception had a wheel-y great time during our Bike to School Week. Safety was our priority, so we reminded everyone to wear helmets. Our dedicated bike track provided endless excitement and adventure, guaranteeing a week filled with fun memories and healthy habits. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
YEAR 1 ASSEMBLY
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the Year 1 parents who joined us for our recent assembly with the Year 1 Sharks and Ducks. It was truly a wonderful event, and your attendance made it even more special.
The children stole the show with their fantastic performance, showcasing confidence and enthusiasm on stage. They shared all about our current topic of animals and sang beautifully. We are immensely proud of our young performers for their courage and 'Go for it Gorilla' attitude in front of such a supportive audience.
Once again, a big thank you to all the parents for your continued support and encouragement. Your presence at the assembly meant the world to our students, and we look forward to sharing more memorable moments together in the future!
YEAR 2
In our topic lessons this term, the Year 2s have been learning all about amazing Thailand. We have been learning about Thai culture, food, religion, festivals, and traditional clothes.
Last week, the Year 2s made their very own Som Tum in the classroom. They used garlic, sugar, fish sauce, chili, tomatoes, and papaya to make their creations. They mixed it all together with the traditional mortar and pestle used in Thailand, and then enjoyed their creations. Some even shared with Miss Sarah, Miss Kirsty and Miss Kathy!
This week, the Year 2 classes visited the Hand to Hand Foundation at their school. As part of our efforts to make a difference and give back to the community, we spent the morning with the children of Hand to Hand. We played games, did arts and crafts together, sang songs, and had the opportunity to see how our School and lives differ from theirs. We also had the chance to ask lots of questions and get to know our buddies for the morning.
It was a wonderful experience, and by the end of the day, everyone realised that despite our differences, we are all children who love to play, sing, be creative, and make friends. Well done, Year 2s, on making a difference this week!

Sport & Enrichment
Sport
Our younger students had another early start on Saturday as they travelled up to Bangkok to play some fixtures.
Our u9 and u11 Mixed Touch Rugby teams travelled to Denla British School to take part in a BISA tournament. Both teams managed to play 3 games each and show off their teamwork and athletic skills before the heat unfortunately caused a premature end to the tournament. Despite this, the children had great fun and enjoyed their morning.
Our u11 Mixed Tee Ball teams went to play in a festival at NIST. It was a great opportunity to play some Tee Ball before they head to the FOBISIA Primary Games in June. There were some great home runs, amazing catches, and super fielding on show. The children loved the opportunity to play fixtures in a new sport.
