Highlight of the Week
CAREERS FOR 21st CENTURY CAREERS EVENT: INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION
This week, RST hosted its inaugural Careers for 21st Century event, bringing together current D Block and LXX students as they prepare to enter the new Sixth Form for the 2024-2025 academic year. The event focused on the review and development of specific skills and competencies.
Building on the foundation set by our Whole Me programme, students engaged in activities designed to highlight the importance of key skills essential for success in Sixth Form, university, and future careers. In today’s rapidly evolving job market, roles that didn't exist a decade ago are now commonplace. This underscores the increasing relevance of transferable skills over specific degree titles.
You can read more about the event here.
D BLOCK TRANSITION EVENT
This week, D Block students experienced an insightful two-day transition programme designed to introduce them to life in the Sixth Form. The carefully structured schedule aimed to provide them with a comprehensive overview of the academic and enrichment opportunities to follow.
Students participated in A Level taster lessons, which gave them a preview of the subjects they had chosen to pursue. They also attended sessions on Sixth Form Independent Study and Leadership, focusing on agency and empowerment. These sessions were instrumental in highlighting the increased responsibilities and freedoms that come with being a Sixth Form student. You can read more about the event here.

Highlights of the Week
CHORAL CONCERT
It was wonderful to hear the fantastic singing from the RST choirs this week at the Choral Concert. Three choirs performed, the Pre-Prep Singing Club, Year 3-5 Choir and the Year 6-8 choir. It is clear to see that choral music is alive and growing at RST.
If your child would like to join a choir next year, and be a part of the choral life at RST, please contact their music teacher and let them know.
Every child should sing!
LAMDA SHOWCASE
Last week, students practised their LAMDA exam pieces in our yearly LAMDA Showcase. They all performed superbly, showing that they are almost ready for their exams next week. Good luck to them all.
SWIMMING GALA
The atmosphere at the Prep swim gala was electric as young swimmers from different year groups showcased their skills in the pool. Beauclerc emerged victorious in the Year 3&4 category, while Arnold dominated the Year 5&6 division, and Hardy claimed the title in Year 7&8. Ultimately, Arnold's consistent performance across all categories secured them the coveted title of Overall Prep Winner.
IOP CELEBRATIONS CONCERT
Congratulations to our very first group of students completing the Instrumental Opportunities Programme (IOP). This term there were 11 students who started learning a new instrument with their peers: 4 Cellists, 2 oboe players, 3 violinists, and 2 trombonists. After just 8 lessons, these students performed some beginner music for their friends and families in an intimate concert designed to celebrate the first steps in learning their chosen instrument.
The Instrumental Opportunities Programme is available to all students in Prep, and is an excellent way to explore instrumental music. The next instrument trial day will be on Tuesday, 10th September. Keep an eye out in the newsletter for more information at the start of term 1.

Highlights of the Week
YEAR 1
Year 1 had an amazing experience visiting the Turtle Sanctuary!
Before visiting, we created beautiful non-fiction books, bookmarks and clay models of turtles, which we then sold to raise funds for a donation to the sanctuary. We raised a fantastic 9600THB so a huge thank you to all of our families for your support.
During our visit, we learned all about turtles and how they are protected, helped clean the tanks with our feet, watched the turtles swim and relax, and enjoyed a nice picnic by the beach. Everyone had such a great time, and the experience will stay in our memories forever.
YEAR 2 SWIMMING GALA
Mr Roel and his team of swim coaches were absolutely amazing this week, putting together a wonderful and fun swimming gala. It showcased the amazing skills of Year 2 and their ever-increasing confidence in the water. Thank you to all the staff for their support. I was so impressed by the swimming and the behaviour and sportsmanship of the students.
Well done everyone; you were all Go for it Gorillas!
YEAR 2 TO 3 TRANSITION
As part of our transition to Year 3, the Year 2 children had written letters to a new buddy in Year 3. This is someone they could get to know and go see if they need anything when they get to Prep. This week our very excited Year 2 children received a letter back from their Year 3 buddies and got to meet them in person for snacks and a playtime at the Prep playground.

FOBISIA PRIMARY GAMES
39 students from Year 5 and 6, and 1 from Year 4, spent an amazing few days at the FOBISIA Primary Games last week.
They were in a very competitive group that contained schools from Manila, Beijing, Singapore, Jeju, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
The days were long and packed full of sport:
- Day 1 was Athletics followed by Swimming.
- Day 2 was Tee Ball
- Day 3 was football followed by a Gala Presentation Dinner and Disco
As usual, RST students did very well and brought home numerous medals and trophies, but it was the friendships they made with children from all around Southeast Asia and the memories they made that were the most important parts of the trip.
Well done to everyone who took part!
SWIMMING
Last month, the RST Swim Team proudly participated in the Mini Marlin Mayhem Swim Meet, showcasing the talents of 28 RST future stars. This fantastic event provided a platform for these young swimmers to gain invaluable experience and make significant strides in their competitive swimming skills.
Participation in events like the Mini Marlin Mayhem is crucial for developing the skills and confidence of these young swimmers. The experience they gained will undoubtedly propel them forward in their swimming careers, setting a strong foundation for future competitions.
Congratulations to all the RST swimmers who participated at this event!
