SCHOLARS EVENT
Our Senior School scholars gathered together in the Black Box Theatre on Tuesday for a special celebration to welcome new scholars into the community. Academic Deputy Head, Dr Lilla Grindlay spoke to all the scholars about what wearing the scholar pin means.
A quote was shared from Matthew Syed’s book ‘Bounce’, which describes talent as the result of thousands of hours of purposeful practice. The scholarship pin is a mark of talent - but it is up to each individual to put in the hours, to take risks, and also to embrace failure and learn from it.
Three of our Levée, Pleng, Rebecca and Lily, also shared their own experiences as scholars with their message being to persevere, but also to make time for yourself. Our Head of Senior Mr Groves and Principal Mr Grindlay then presented a scholar pin to our new Academic, Drama, Music, D&T, Art and Sports scholars.
Congratulations to all!

PREP ASSEMBLY
BE RST, our student code of conduct, was the focus of last week's Prep assembly. It is always refreshing to have a reminder of the expectations we set for ourselves and to encourage our students to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
You can find out more about the BE RST student code of conduct in the video below.
OEC MORNINGS
Over the last two weeks our students in Years 5, 6 and 7 took a break from their usual lessons to embark on an exciting adventure at the Outdoor Education Centre (OEC). Under the expert guidance of Mr Kahumbu and his dedicated team, students engaged in a series of fun yet challenging activities designed to bring them out of their comfort zones. The days focused on fostering collaboration, resilience, and most importantly, ensuring that everyone had a great time.
Year 7 worked together to build catapults and conquer the high ropes course while Year 6 were faced with equally challenging tasks and our Year 5 were busy balancing a marble on a bamboo pole as they navigated through an obstacle course. Each task required teamwork, determination, and of course a dash of bravery. A fantastic morning was had for all, and our students thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this enriching experience.

YEAR 4 ART
Last week in our Art Studios, Year 4 were busy emulating the work of Japanese artist Raku Inoue who is known for his depiction of insects created from beautifully arranged leaves, flowers, and other natural materials. The students were inspired to see the beauty in the little things around us and were excited to dive into their own carefully crafted creations. Their final work is certainly something to be very proud of.

YOUNG INTERPRETER SCHEME
The Young Interpreter Scheme (YIS) is an award-winning scheme from the UK that helps students who are new to the English language to settle in and make sure they feel understood, safe and welcome. This scheme has been started by some of our students in Year 2 who all speak additional languages.
Those students who become young interpreters will use their amazing language skills to learn empathy and responsibility as well as make friends with new arrivals at RST. Training is provided by the Pre-Prep Head of EAL as an afternoon activity once a week. The young interpreters each received a badge to proudly wear and are looking forward to making new arrivals feel safe, valued and heard.
