INTERNATIONAL DAY
We're looking for parents to bring a taste of their home country to our International Day Food Market on Friday, 18th October.
The Food Market has become a real highlight of our International Day celebrations, giving the community a true flavour of the rich and varied cultural heritage we have here. We'd love as many of you as possible to help us bring this gastronomic journey to life so we can create a global adventure right here at RST.
Highlight of the Week
INTERNSHIP AND VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMME
Four of our Senior students recently embarked on a meaningful internship and volunteering programme over the summer break as they volunteered at the Children and Family Shelter in Banglamung, working closely with Chonburi's Department of Children and Youth.
This experience provided invaluable insights for our aspiring Psychology and Law students, allowing them to gain practical knowledge in areas such as child development, trauma-informed care, and emotional resilience. Working with the head of the shelter and alongside experienced social workers, they learned how to effectively communicate and connect with vulnerable children. They also delved into the complexities of child law and the critical importance of safeguarding. This deepened their understanding of how to offer professional support in difficult situations.
Beyond the academic benefits, this internship fostered essential life skills and allowed our students to build on their teamwork, problem-solving and emotional intelligence. These skills will undoubtedly serve them well in their personal growth and future careers.

SENIOR HOUSE DRAMA
Rehearsals for our House Drama Competition are heating up as all six Houses dive into Carol Ann Duffy's 'More Grimm Tales.' Led by our talented students, Day and Boarding Houses are putting their own spin on these classic Brothers Grimm stories. From traditional retellings to modern interpretations, each House is crafting unique performances and will be busy rehearsing over the next four weeks in preparation for the finals in October. Every student in the House is involved, from acting and directing to backstage and technical roles. Our judges will be looking for creativity, engagement, and a fresh take on the stimulus material. Performances will be evaluated based on student involvement, use of the play scripts, and interpretation through various styles and practitioners.
Performances to other Houses are scheduled on the 16th and 17th October.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
Rehearsals have commenced for our Senior Musical Production, 'Little Shop Of Horrors', which features an incredible cast of over 30 actors, singers and backstage plant puppeteers. A 15-piece student Pit Band and a Do Wop Chorus will bring the show to life with their energetic performances. Led by our talented student design and Tech Team, this production promises to be our most ambitious yet.
Experience the chilling tale of a carnivorous alien plant that grows amidst a love story between Seymour and Audrey. Set against a backdrop of horror, comedy and rock music, the show's iconic score by Alan Menken (made famous by the 1986 B-Movie) will keep you on the edge of your seat. Follow our Performing Arts Instagram for updates, rehearsal photos, and more.
Performances will take place on December 3rd, 4th, and 6th in the Black Box Theatre.

GLOBAL UNIVERSITY FAIR

BAAN JING JAI
The School House service team were warmly welcomed to the Baan Jing Jai Children's home in Pattaya recently by their wonderful managers Khun Pingta and Khun Sunanta. Over the past year, Mateo, Dragon, Rute, T and Marwin have raised a total of 27,750 THB with admirable support from the School House family. This has allowed for a full annual child sponsorship at Baan Jing Jai, which for 2,000 THB per month, covers food, shelter, healthcare, school equipment, uniform and so much more.
There are currently 90 children under care in the home and most, but not all, have secured an annual sponsorship. For the past four years, our students have raised funds to sponsor Jedah, a remarkable young boy from Northern Thailand. The School House team were delighted to meet him for the first time, speaking about his life at Baan Jing Jai and his hopes for the future.
We are grateful to Baan Jing Jai for welcoming us with open arms. The visit certainly offers a new lens for viewing the challenges of life, and the experience has motivated the School House service team to set a new fundraising target for this year.

SCHOLAR ACTIVITY SERIES
At the beginning of the term, our new Scholars were warmly welcomed at our School assembly and were awarded with their Scholar badges. This year, we have introduced a new Scholar Activity Series. This series features weekly sessions and discussions on various topics. So far, our Scholars have delved into the following:
- Time Management: Scholars discussed the importance of using time effectively, emphasising that life is a one-time opportunity.
- Disaster Preparedness: In a simulated disaster scenario, Scholars focused on cooperation and applied engineering principles to design radar towers.
- Introduction to Ethics: Scholars explored the concepts of morality, ethical dilemmas, and utilitarianism, applying the latter to the "trolley problem."
- Introduction to Philosophy: Key philosophical questions were discussed, followed by an exploration of Plato's theory and his Cave analogy.
- Creativity and Innovation: Scholars developed creative and innovative approaches to problem-solving.
We look forward to seeing how the series and our Scholars develop throughout the year.
DISC GOLF TAKES FLIGHT
The popularity of our Disc Golf activity is soaring, with more and more students taking to our dedicated course. This exciting sport, which combines elements of frisbee and golf, offers a fun and active way to enjoy the outdoors. Our Disc Golf course is currently undergoing some exciting upgrades which will enhance the playing experience for our students. The activity is a fantastic way to stay active, have fun and make new friends, and is open to both seasoned players and those who are new to the game. Activity Block 2 starts on the 11th November and we hope to see many more Disc Golfers joining.

LITTLE TALK:
Thank you to all who attended the Little Talk on making devices safer. Please find the guide to setting up your child's device here.
Reminders
CAR PARK
Please ensure that the drop off zone is only used to drop your children off at School, which should be no more than a two-minute procedure. Unless you are a wheelchair-using family or it is a birthday, please adhere to this system or you will be asked to move on by either security or Miss Sarah. Please also note the car park is a one way system. By following these procedures, we can work together to create a more efficient experience for our parents.
SAFE DRIVING
Please ensure that all children and adults are wearing seatbelts inside vehicles. We have witnessed children sitting in the front seats without seatbelts on. It is now a requirement that all drivers and passengers wear their seatbelts. The children are also being taught about the importance of this at School.
SMOKING ON SITE
This is a polite reminder that the School site is a no-smoking zone. Several drivers have been seen smoking directly outside Pre-Prep and the Assembly Hall in sight of children and families. The entire School site is a no-smoking zone and we would appreciate your help in keeping the children in a safe, smoke-free environment.

OUTDOOR FUN IN THE SUN
Our littlest learners in Pre-Nursery and Nursery have been enjoying the beautiful weather recently and have had lots of fun during their outdoor play. Splashing and pouring in the water trays have proven to be popular activities, as well as creating shapes and castles with sand. We even spotted some budding artists painting masterpieces on the windows!

MARSHALL HOUSE BUDDY PRESENTATIONS
It has been wonderful to have so many new faces in the Prep boarding house this term, adding to the diverse 'family of friends' from all different places. As part of getting to know each other - and as a drive for our students to be curious about the people around them - everyone in the house will be doing a "Buddy Presentation" this term. Random pairing extends connections beyond friendship groups and celebrates all the wonderful individuals who live in Marshall House. To kick start the initiative, the House staff have been presenting on each other.

RST vs NIST LONG COURSE DUAL SWIM MEET
We proudly hosted the first RST vs NIST Long Course Dual Swim Meet and it was a great success for everyone involved. The primary goal of the event was to help swimmers from both teams develop and refine their racing skills in a true competition setting, allowing them to focus on preparing for a competition, without the pressure of results. Beyond the competitive aspect, the event offered a fun and enjoyable experience for all swimmers and their families. The meet not only strengthened bonds between the two teams but also provided valuable lessons in teamwork, competition readiness and sportsmanship.
The experience was incredibly positive and we look forward to hosting the event again next year.
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS' GOLF TOUR
Monday saw the start of the International Schools' Golf Tour (ISGT), a series of 12 events throughout the year held at some of Thailand's top golf courses. The first event, the ASB Eagle cup, was held at Thai Country Club - an award-winning golf club nestled in the outskirts of Bangkok. 17 students from our School were entered in the Development and Main tour, finishing the day joyfully as Nett Team Champions.
